Cecil Avenue & Ujima House: Shortlisted for Pineapple Award
We are delighted to announce that Cecil Avenue and Ujima House, part of the Wembley Housing Zone, is on the shortlist for the Pineapple for Future Place: Up to 10ha award.
The Pineapple awards celebrate excellence in placemaking, urban development, and community-focused design and highlight projects that positively impact the built environment and enhance local communities.
The Wembley Housing Zone (WHZ) is a significant regeneration initiative in the London Borough of Brent, aiming to transform parts of Wembley into vibrant residential and commercial areas. This transformative regeneration project is being delivered in partnership with Wates Group, Brent Council, the Mayor of London and Landscape Architect Exterior Architecture. Designed to foster community, sustainability, and connectivity, this project reimagines the area as a vibrant neighbourhood with thoughtfully designed residents' gardens integrating terraced landscapes with play and social spaces and biodiverse planting.
Cecil Avenue – currently on site is a residential-led, mixed-use development comprising 237 homes, offering a combination of affordable and private housing. Flanagan Lawrence was appointed as Architect and Lead Designer from Stage 2 onwards. Our work includes updating the proposals to facilitate the scheme’s delivery, with interior design by FLINT.
Ujima House provides 54 residential units as 100% affordable housing. Internally, the mix of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments are all provided with private amenity space in the form of balconies and a dedicated roof terrace and children’s playspace. The scheme has been the outcome of extensive consultation with the client, and the council.
Winners will be announced on 02 April.
