Planning Submitted

The retrofit of the Grade 2 * Listed Old Library on the Hayes in Cardiff into a Performing Arts Centre for the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, has been submitted for Planning consent. 

Externally, the remodelled entrance reveals the historic fabric and creates an accessible approach to the building where the foyer spills out into the City, with performances from the Conservatoire’s students on the steps which form a new outdoor stage. Internally, the project includes works to the large reading rooms, to allow them to become light filled, acoustically optimised spaces for the rehearsal and performance of music and drama. An overriding objective of the design is to allow the Old Library to become net zero carbon enabled.
