“Hello Wembley….”
We are delighted to launch the Sound Shell at Wembley Park, the latest and smallest iteration of our outdoor performance shell designs.
Quintain Wembley Park and BBC Introducing opened the Sound Shell, our latest addition to the Wembley Masterplan.
Flanagan Lawrence is Quintain’s Masterplanning Architects at Wembley Park and has completed 3 residential mixed-use schemes, Alto, Landsby and Alameda totaling 1063 new homes. We are delighted with the latest iteration of the acoustic soundshell collection and its addition to the public realm.
The Sound Shell is designed to create an onstage acoustic for the performers and its conical form projects the sound towards the audience. Visually echoing the stadium’s arch creating a link between Wembley’s smallest and largest stages.
Given that performing at Wembley is seen as the pinnacle of an artist’s career, the Sound Shell offers the opportunity for musicians to perform in a more informal setting, giving them the opportunity to take a first step on their journey towards playing on larger stages.
The Sound Shell is designed to create an onstage acoustic for the performers and its conical form projects the sound towards the audience. Performances will run as part of the Quintain Wembley Park programme every Thursday and Sunday until 25th September. The design was developed with Soundforms, Arup Acoustics, ES Global, Expedition and K2.
Julian Tollast, Head of Design and Masterplanning at Wembley Park, said: “We are extremely pleased to have teamed up with Flanagan Lawrence Architects, on the design of The Sound Shell at Wembley Park and with BBC Introducing on the curation of an evenings of live music and entertainment that will give new talented artists the exposure they deserve on a uniquely designed stage.”
