101 Embankment Wins at the RIBA North West Awards
Flanagan Lawrence’s workspace scheme in Salford honoured with an RIBA Regional Award
17th May 2018
Our 101 Embankment, Greengate project was yesterday named an RIBA North West Award winner at a ceremony in Liverpool. The judges described the scheme as ‘elegantly detailed, making a positive contribution to the public realm and wider cityspace’.
The building is the first of a two-phased development in the historic centre of Salford, overlooking Manchester Cathedral. Sitting on a Grade 2 Listed viaduct, the 10 floor building appears as a lightweight jewel above the robust sandstone façade of the railway embankment. The new office space is carefully integrated into the adjacent public realm through a ‘hub’ circulation building, stitching together multiple elements while celebrating the rich history of the listed Embankment area.
The success follows the project’s win at the Insider North West Property Awards. It will now be considered for an RIBA National Award, the results of which will be announced in June.
