Giovanna Sylos-Labini

MArch (Hons) ARB/UK OAPPC Rome/Italy

Associate Director

At Flanagan Lawrence, Giovanna has been involved on several high-profile projects and currently leads the Crescent House project in Wembley.

Giovanna was the Project Architect responsible for the design and coordination of the mixed-use project in Bromley-by-Bow for British Land. She was also responsible for the design of the competition entry for the Ross Pavilion in Edinburgh, a global competition for which Flanagan Lawrence were shortlisted from over 100 entries.

Giovanna led the practice’s entry for a competition which sought minimal and ‘fully reversible’ roofing proposals for the historic Verona Arena in Italy. The project proposal improved usability by allowing performances to continue during adverse weather, while also assisting with conservation of the historic structure. She also led Flanagan Lawrence's participation in an international competition in Rome for the Foro Italico Tennis Centre Court, where they were shortlisted among the top 7 from 33 entries in the first phase.

Beyond her professional role, Giovanna is dedicated to mentoring emerging architects, emphasizing her belief in the profession's potential to shape the future.

Prior to joining Flanagan Lawrence, Giovanna worked across a broad range of sectors, on projects such as the UAE Pavilion for the Milan Expo. Previously, she has worked internationally, collaborating on projects such as the Napoli Afragola High-Speed Train Station, the Salerno Maritime Terminal, and the CityLife Milano Residential Complex.
