Summertime at the Acoustic Shells
Our project in Littlehampton is host to an array of local events.

Since their completion in 2014, our Acoustic Shells in Littlehampton have become a landmark for the local community. Sited in a sunken garden beside the beach, the stage and shelter have played host to a large range of family friendly events, including last Sunday’s annual Ukulele Jam of Jams. For a full list of what is happening on the seaside in Littlehampton, take a look at www.visitlittlehampton.co.uk/whats-on/
Commissioned by the Littlehampton Town Council, the Acoustic Shells have gone on to win a large array of awards including: two RIBA awards, the AJ Small Projects Special Prize, The Institution of Structural Engineers Small Project, and a Chicago Athenaeum International Architecture Award.
‘’The structure of the Acoustic Shells has been digitally optimised to create a reflective surface to project the sound of the performers to the audience in the sunken garden. The other shell faces the beach and forms a more intimate structure as a shelter for listening to the sound of the sea, or for buskers to perform facing the promenade.’’
