Workspace   MTL Butterfield

Flexible business space is provided within this elegant, two-storey building. The building has a steel frame with facades clad in glass, solid panels and perforated sheets. For the office component, the building is clear and transparent, whilst the building encloses the manufacturing element, which is primarily lit from above.

The creation of a top-lit, double-height central circulation space extending the length of the office provides the hub from which all programmatic elements of the building radiate. The full-height glazed east facade of the offices features a series of suspended vertical perforate louvres which filter natural east light, mitigating problems of glare.

The extended skin responds to the current use of floor space and can be altered as necessary as can the mezzanine floor structure within the building. The scheme makes a strong corporate statement at an economical cost.
