Residential Chiswick Point
Flanagan Lawrence were appointed to deliver a residential scheme on a largely disused narrow industrial site which had reached the end of its useful life and was making little or no contribution to the local area.
The largely car free scheme provides a total of 124 residential apartments of which 91 are market units and 33 are affordable together with 1,067 sq.m of non-residential B1 space and D1 Class uses and disabled residential car parking.
The development is designed to be tenure blind externally and responds to the opportunities presented by the differing aspects of the site. It is situated between a railway viaduct to the north, and a nature reserve to the south and is configured internally such that all living spaces are south facing and benefit from the open views out over the nature reserve.
The apartments are either single aspect – south facing, or otherwise dual aspect with some even enjoying a triple aspect. A greater expanse of windows serve living rooms maximising natural daylight within the apartments and enhancing the sense of external awareness of the nature reserves green surroundings outside, whilst bedrooms face northwards and have smaller windows set within deeper reveals to give a greater sense and privacy and security.
Having achieved planning permission in mid 2012, the site was subsequently sold to Bellway. Flanagan Lawrence were then appointed by Bellway to deliver a series of key details for the buildings envelope from which Bellway built out the scheme.
