Millendreath is a small enclosed valley in South East Cornwall. An area previously neglected, the plans for the 35 hectare (90 acre) site will provide a mix of uses, including holiday and residential accommodation with new spa, leisure, retail and business activities.

Buildings are sited beyond the flood plain, integrated into the landscape with hanging gardens covering the steep valley sides; the valley bottom is intended to become a south facing exotic garden, a typology unique to Cornwall at this latitude as a result of the warming influence of the Gulf Stream.

The spa is sited within the gardens at the edge of the flood plain. The building is conceived as a series of raised pavilions organised around internal landscaped courtyards. The roof-scape forms a continuation of the exotic gardens, with the spa, pool and bar tucked beneath, enjoying the views over the landscape to the beach.
