Flanagan Lawrence for #Sunderland2021
The MACQ Auditorium is part of Sunderland’s bid to be the UK City of Culture 2021.
25th Aug 2017
Flanagan Lawrence is excited to be contributing to Sunderland’s bid as the UK City of Culture 2021, with our design of the MACQ Auditorium enriching the cultural offerings of this historic town.
The MACQ Auditorium is due to begin construction later this year, and will follow the completion of the neighbouring Fire Station, which will be launched with a spectacular large-scale live performance on November 23rd.
The MACQ auditorium forms part of the wider Sunderland Music, Arts and Culture Quarter, which encompasses a series of fine early 1900’s buildings, including the already successful Empire, the Dun Cow and the Londonderry pubs. Providing a new flexible venue for music, theatre and conferences, the MACQ Auditorium will form a natural partner to the restaurants, bars, and drama and dance rehearsal spaces in and around the Fire station.
Here’s to #sunderland2021!
