101 Embankment, Salford shortlisted for an RIBA North West award
Our 101 Embankment scheme has been shortlisted for an RIBA North West award
28th Mar 2018
One of nine shortlisted schemes, our 101 Embankment scheme for Ask Real Estate is located in a unique urban context, sitting at the historic centre of Salford overlooking Manchester Cathedral and Deansgate. The RIBA Awards aim to recognise successful projects that reflect changes and innovations in architecture.
An important piece of the regeneration jigsaw, the scheme comprises 15,329 sqm of space over 10 floors and is arranged on a series of levels, with a Grade 2 Listed sandstone viaduct forming a grand base for two office buildings.
The existing and newly created perimeter arches house retail and workspace units – intended to revitalise the adjacent public realm – while the interior of the podium contains a state-of-the-art multi-decked car park.
101 Embankment has maximised the great potential of the site by successfully stitching together multiple elements and linking them via an innovative ‘hub’ circulation building, whilst celebrating the rich history of the listed Embankment.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony held at One Fine Day, Liverpool on 16th May 2018. Regional Award winners will be considered for a highly-coveted RIBA National Award in recognition of their architectural excellence, the results of which will be announced in June.
The shortlist for the RIBA Stirling Prize, the best new building of the year, will be drawn from the RIBA National Award-winning buildings in July and the Stirling Prize winner will be announced in October.
